Tv stand
LCD TVs provide excellent high resolution and crystal clear pictures. At the same time, their design is sleek and trendy. It would mar the entire look of the TV if it were placed on a shoddy stand.
LCD TV stands are available in all shapes and sizes. Stands may be metal, fiberglass, wood or any other conventional material and of various finishes, such as wood enamel, or metallic or even expensive lacquers.
Looks apart, the most important consideration when buying a tv stand is whether it will support the weight of your television. Most TVs have weight capacities printed in their manuals. Don’t be fooled by the size of the stand. A bigger stand does not mean it will bear the weight better. It all depends on what material the stand is made up of.
Tips For Purchasing an LCD TV Stand
1) Check that the stand is big and sturdy enough. If the TV stand you choose isn’t up to par in this category, it could spell disaster for you and your new television. Common mistakes seen here including choosing stands which are either too shallow or too flimsy. You need to make sure that the depth of the stand you have in mind is enough for the TV or else it will hang over the back edge, and no one likes the look of that. This isn’t as much of a problem with LCD sets as it is with tube TVs, but it’s still an issue. The stand you choose should also be certified for a certain size television. Trust the certification – placing a TV which is too heavy on your stand could lead to collapse and failure.
2) Choose a material that’s looks good and works well. The most common materials out there for LCD TV stands include hardwood, MDF (medium density fiberboard), and wood veneers. Each has a different look and feel, so browse around before you make a final decision. Hardwood will last forever, but is expensive. Wood veneer is wood placed over other materials, so you get the look and feel of wood without the heavy downsides. MDF is a great economical and environmentally sound decision. Glass and metal stands exist as well, so keep looking until you find one that looks and feel right for you.
3) Make sure you pick an LCD TV stand with the right features. What really sets one stand apart from another are the features that they have. So you may want to begin by asking yourself a few questions in order to narrow down the field. Do you want or need shelving? Is the ability to swivel the stand important to you? Are space considerations pushing you towards a corner TV stand? Does your LCD TV’s width demand a wider stand to accommodate it? Figuring out what you value most will make it considerably easier to make a final decision.
